This is a vintage Japanese wooden doll known called a kokeshi. This kokeshi has the bark of the birch limb it was cut from preserved! She stands cozy and warm smiling beneath a shawl and high snow boots for winter.

Having been in storage for several decades, it remains in overall fine vintage condition. She measures about 7 " (17 cm) tall and 2" at the widest (cm).
